Luxury room on the Science floorDesigned in the style of a private club, The Library is a real haven for bookworms, with ten themed floors celebrating the arts and sciences, with themes ranging from history to philosophy.

Accommodation is adorned with art and books which relate to the unique theme of each room, so for example rooms whose number begins with a 9 have a history/geography theme, with room 900.004 devoted to oceanography.

Guests may request rooms which complement their personal interests.  For instance the Literature floor features books from the Classics, while the Maths and Science floor has items on astronomy and botany.

Located on Madison Avenue and 41st, The Library hotel is just steps from the majestic New York Public Library and the Pierpoint Morgan Library, and a short distance from  Grand Central Station and all that lively Manhattan has to offer.

Each luxury room has full air-conditioning, minibar, in-room safe and book titles according to the room theme.  Complimentary bottled water and Belgian chocolates are also included.   Additionally, super-luxury bathrooms come with plush bathrobes, hair dryers, Natura bath products, and scald-proof showers and baths.

Complimentary continental breakfast is served each morning in the second-floor Reading Room, and afternoon tea, a variety of coffees, cookies and fruits are available there throughout the day.  Every evening (except Sundays) a selection of complimentary wines, champagnes and cheeses are served between 5pm and 8pm.

The first hotel to offer more than 6,000 books, The Library follows the Dewey Decimal System* - Social Sciences, literature, languages, history, mathematics and science, general knowledge, technology, philosophy, the arts and religion.  Each of the ten floors follows one of the ten categories of the system, and each of the 60 rooms is dedicated to a distinct topic within the floor's category.

* a classification system devised by Melvil Dewey, whereby knowledge is divided into ten main classes, which are further subdivided within the category.
