Fairmont Vancouver, Vancouver, Canada

Fairmont Hotel VancouverOne of the iconic hotels of the Canadian Pacific Railway, the Hotel Vancouver was deemed fit for a queen when it opened in May 1939.  And indeed the hotel was opened in time for a visit by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.

A landmark in one of Canada's most vibrant, cosmopolitan cities, the hotel welcomes travellers from around the globe.   Bordering Vancouver's financial district, the hotel is just a block away from the trendy shops and restaurants of Robson Street and eight blocks from historic Gastown.

Initially built at a cost of $12 million, a $70 million restoration programme carried out in the mid 90s ensured the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver remains among the very best Vancouver hotels.

Inside, the chateau-style architecture, crystal chandeliers, Italian marble floors and Edwardian decor hint at an age past, hiding at first glance the modern facilities on offer.  These include a state of the art health club and luxury spa, award-winning restaurants and full-service business centre.
