Situated
in the original old Oriental Hotel building, the Author's Suites are
all as individual as the writers after whom they are named. Four
famous names from the literary world have inspired the most lavish
accommodations - Joseph Conrad, Noel Coward, James Michener and
Somerset Maugham.
Executive
suites are located in the River Wing, with extensive river views.
Decorated in traditional Thai style, these spacious one-bedroom suites make use of dark woods, offset by silk
furnishings.
Other literary
greats provided the inspiration for the Deluxe suites, located in the River Wing. The ten suites
reflect personalities as diverse as Barbara Cartland and Wilbur Smith
with decor ranging from her favourite pinks to his wild and exotic
Africa.
For the ultimate luxury experience, book one of the two-bedroomed suites - the Selandia, Siam or Oriental.
Dining
With
nine dining venues on-site, you'll never be short of choice. From
the elegant La Normandie restaurant, offering reputedly the finest
French cuisine in Asia and the retro Lord Jim's where a delicious
seafood menu and international buffet lunch is served, to the Sala Rim
Naam restaurant serving traditional Thai cuisine and the casual but
elegant Verandah restaurant which serves breakfast, gorgeous cakes and
offers an all-day dining menu.
Alternatives
include China House, an old colonial-style building just outside the
hotel which offers the best Chinese food - with Cantonese a speciality,
the Riverside Terrace serving everything from noodles to grilled
seafood, and Ciao - an Italian restaurant serving traditional pizzas from a
wood-fired oven.
For
the ultimate afternoon-tea experience, try the Authors' Lounge on the
ground-floor of the Authors' Wing, where a traditional English tea is
served daily between noon and 6pm.
