Mena House Oberoi, Cairo, Egypt

Mena House Oberoi, CairoWhat could be more romantic than waking up surrounded by forty acres of jasmine scented gardens, in the shadow of the Great Pyramids at Giza?

Guests at the Mena House Oberoi have been doing just that since 1869, and this enchanting and palatial hotel, built as a hunting lodge by the King of Egypt, has entertained several kings, emperors and heads of state in its time.

An historic and richly royal residence, the hotel is only 700m from the Pyramid of Cheops, and is the closest hotel to the Pyramids and Sphinx.  With modern Cairo only a short distance away, this is a perfect place to begin your stay in Egypt.

Interiors are exquisitely crafted in traditional style, with filigree fretwork and intricately carved panelling.  Luxuriously embelished with antiques, hand-crafted furniture and rich textiles, the Mena House is more like a palace than a hotel.

Rooms and suites

Room Mena House Oberoi

Mena House Oberoi has 523 rooms and suites in the Palace and Garden wings and Cabana style rooms by the swimming pool.  Each of the thirteen suites, 21 of the Palace rooms and 140 garden rooms has views of the Pyramids.

All rooms are air conditioned, and are inspired by traditional furnishings and rich carpets.   Suites feature intricate detailing, with wooden balustrading and arched windows, and a private butler service is available.

With the exception of the suites, probably the nicest rooms are the Palace deluxe rooms with Pyramids view.  These are either king or twin, and each has high speed Internet connection, in-room safe and minibar, and many have their own private balconies.

For a little more space, the deluxe garden rooms have views of either the Pyramids or the lush gardens.  Each of these rooms has wooden flooring, a dining table and 24-hours in-room dining, an armoire, and a large balcony.
